Kiosk3:MerzKiosk

Magazin4 Bregenzer Kunstverein, Bregenz, 2006

As the ribs of the architecture grow new functions come into being.  The kiosks evolve like a city using the constructive (not negative) principle of collage.  As the World develops, new things have to be made out of the fragments. Needs will be radically different.  The World must be a better place.

Kiosk3:MerzKiosk was the first of the Gavin Wade mit Simon & Tom Bloor kiosks, and was part of the Merz exhibition curated by Peter Lewis at Magazin4 Bregenzer Kunstverein in Bregenz, Austria. Merzkiosk tapped into the area's tradition of wooden architecture, and was built by a team of skilled craftsmen as well as the Magazin4 staff & other helpful folk that included the mayor of Bregenz.

Gavin mit Simon & Tom decorated the kiosk with a collage of photocopies and made a booklet to accompany the project. They also installed a sculpture/booklet display unit made from kiosk leftovers in the Magazin4 gallery.

A vision of the world tamed, not with a fist, but with a kiosk
